Background
The Spirited Business Network was founded in New Zealand in 2014 following the Christchurch earthquakes. The city had been consistently and persistently devastated by thousands of earthquakes over a three year period and tragically taking close to 200 lives.
What became evident during this period was the tremendous and genuine care that we as humans can access in times of great vulnerability. The incredible outpouring and heart that is innate as part of our human conditioning .
We are wired to give and unfortunately it is often through adversity that we realise the power and the potential for humanity. In the wake of the quakes, it was clear that businesses play a huge role in harnessing resources, supporting the community, establishing structures and caring for our community.
The world of business holds within it some of the best and the worst of that which we are capable of. It gets exacerbated in times of great adversity and adversity leads to greater connection, vulnerability and even creativity. It is time that we accepted the obvious – All of life is connected and in relationship. Spirit gives life to our thoughts and body. Our bodies are the canvas in this world of relativity and we must produce great human beings to build great businesses and nations.
We must embrace and enthusiastically support businesses in their efforts to trade successfully, make profits, and prosper. Enthusiasm comes from the Greek root meaning “possessed or inspired by god.” We have created a moral and ethical framework that celebrates human rights, cares for our environment and embraces social responsibility.
